ASHOKA WOMEN’S ENGINEERING COLLEGE
DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING
- ABOUT ECE DEPARTMENT
Electronics and Communication domain conceptualize research, design, develop and test electronic equipments, communications and broadcast systems. ECE is the application of science and mathematics to practical problems in the field of electronics and communications. The Department Of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) has consistently maintained an exemplary academic record. The greatest asset of the department is its highly motivated and learned faculty members. The available diversity of expertise of the faculty prepares the students to work in global multicultural environment. The College offers UG Course ECE and PG Course Digital Electronics and communication system (DECS).
We transform students into a core ECE engineer, they can work in the positions of Design engineer, ASIC Engineer trainee, Embedded Engineer or Network Support Engineer in various domains like Circuit Design, Wireless Communications, Robotics, VLSI, Nano Technology, Embedded Systems, Optical Communications, Signal Processing, Control System, Analog Electronics and Networking. The Department will continue to deliver our best to serve the society and mankind. It is also expected that our students will continue to transfer the skills which they have developed at this department to build a better society through their innovations. The department focuses its research on Image processing, Communication, Microwave Engineering, VLSI & Embedded Systems etc.

- LABORATORY DETAILS
a.Digital and Linear Integrated Circuits Lab
Digital and Linear Integrated Circuits Lab is very important for designing the characteristics of OP-AMP, 555 Timer IC and to simulate the applications of OP-AMP. It is also used for designing the digital circuits. Students of various branches design and test their circuits as part of their curriculum. Guidance is provided to the students by a team of expert faculty and lab technicians. The labs are kept open after the college hours to enable the students to engage themselves in designing /testing the circuits in their leisure hours.
b.Electronic Devices and Circuits Lab
Electronic Devices and Circuits laboratory is well equipped with the latest signal generators, oscilloscopes, digital trainer kits and measuring instruments. Students of various branches design and test their analog /digital/mixed signals, digital circuits as part of their curriculum. Guidance is provided to the students by a team of expert faculty and lab technicians. Electronic Devices and Circuits Laboratory equipped with wide range of advanced components that covers practical oriented electronic circuits that are very essential for the students to solidify their theoretical concepts. This laboratory provides a communication bridge between the theory and practical world of the electronic circuits.
c.Microwave and Optical Communication lab
In Microwave Lab the students are exposed to the microwave active devices like klystron, Gunn diode and passive devices isolator, circulator, slide screw tunner, magic tee, directional coupler, horn antenna, attenuator, terminations. The students perform all the experiments as prescribed by the university. The optical lab is equipped with fiber optic trainer kits and modules to enable the study of components of an optical communication system. The students perform experiments to study the characteristics of optical sources (LED & LD) and optical detectors (LD & APD) and optical fibers. Fault detection in a fiber link is studied using the OTDR module. A FSO module enables study of Transmission of optical signal in free space.
d.VLSI and DSP lab
The Digital Signal Processing and VLSI applications are becoming more prevalent in everyday use. The field of DSP/VLSI was developed due to the flexibility offered by the use of digital computers in implementing signal processing algorithms and systems. There is a constant need for designing systems with lower power, higher speed and lower area. The DSP/VLSI lab is equipped with hordes of personal computers. The students enrich their knowledge by using the software tools like MATLAB, Modelsim, xilinx, HDL Designer Pro Tanner and Code Composer Studio to perform embedded based experiments.
e.Microprocessor and Microcontroller lab
Microprocessor lab helps the students enhance their knowledge about various processors such as 8085, 8086, micro-controllers, Pentium processors and also the interfacing of these processors with other equipments. Students from other branch of engineering and sciences also come to this lab and develop their skills in the field of microprocessor and its applications. The features and facilities available in this lab will help the students do their projects and enhance their knowledge about the latest trends and technologies.
f.Analog and Digital Communication lab
The students perform the characteristics of microphone and gain knowledge in Acoustical Engineering. They also test condenser, coil and piezo-electric transducers used in the audio engineering. In the area of pulse techniques, faculty help them in PAM and PWM experiments. In addition to all the above, the lab consists of the fiber optic trainer, analog signal sampling kit, TDM trainer and microwave test benches.
