ABOUT DEPARTMENT

Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering is started in the year 2008 with a present intake of 60. The department is heading with an objective to develop industry ready engineers while meeting local industry needs. The department is an integral part of Ashoka Women’s Engineering College, Kurnool. Since inception the department has well experienced and committed faculty, who continuously strive for the benefit of the students and their career development. The strength of the department is its laboratory facilities besides good infrastructure. Faculty of the department continuously encourage/drive students to involve in industrial visits, internships and also provides various training programs to enhance the technical skills of the students. The Department is offering one Post Graduate Program with the specialization in Electrical Power Systems(EPS) with an intake of 18.Active research is going on Power Systems, Power Electronics & Drives and Dynamic Control Systems.

Professor & Head

Dr. K.Narasimhaiah Achari received B.Tech. Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. He obtained M.Tech. Degree in the specialization of Power Electronics from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. And also he awarded Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur, Anantapuramu, Andhra Pradesh.

Research Area:

He has done the research in the specialization of Power Electronic Controlled Drives. His areas of interest are Power Electronics, Electrical Drives and Electric Vehicles. He has published one book chapter and 17 papers in various International Journals and Conferences. Among these one paper in SCI, 3 Patents and 6 papers in Scopus indexed journals published. He is currently acting as a Reviewer for the Springer series journal. He has received best paper award from Dr. Muhummad Harunur Rashid for one of the international conference organized at Coimbatore Institute of technology, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu. He acted as a Session Chair for various International Conferences and delivered guest lecturers in various institutions. He acted as a resource person for various FDP’s in various institutions.

Experience:

He has 18 years of experience in teaching and various positions. He acted as a Nodal Centre Coordinator, Project Coordinator and IEEE Student Branch Counselor. He has participated in various FDP’s, Conferences, and Workshops at various organizations. He has the memberships in professional bodies like ISTE and IEEE.

To excel globally in providing outstanding technical education, research and ethical professionals with contemporary knowledge in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and make them tune with society aspirations.

Mission

M1: Impart knowledge by providing an intellectually stimulating and congenial atmosphere for exploring new ideas in multidisciplinary fields to excel in academics and co-curricular activities.

M2: Provide training and develop techno skill oriented culture to meet the needs of society and industry and inculcate ethical values, discipline and team work to become successful global professionals.

M3: Impart quality technical education that enables building up of successful careers and to motivate the pursuit of higher studies.

Program Educational Objectives (PEO’s):

PEO’s Description
PEO1 Graduates of Electrical and Electronics Engineering will possess an adequate knowledge in Electrical and Electronics Engineering to meet the needs of Industries with outstanding careers in any association or to exceed in higher studies.
PEO2 Graduates of Electrical and Electronics Engineering will adapt to environment of continuous enhancement with good scientific and engineering breadth so as to comprehend, analyze and design solutions in emerging technologies with good communication and managerial skills.
PEO3 Graduates shall exhibit as successful professionals with ethical values and capable of working in multi disciplinary areas in a team to solve real life problems in broad societal context.

PO4 Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

LAB DETAILS

1 Electrical Machines Laboratory

This is the main lab where experiments like load test on various machines, speed control tests, open circuit tests, short circuit tests, etc. are carried out. And also wide varieties of practical experiments are performed here with combination of different rotating machines. The laboratory is also used for research activities in machines and to carry out project works on energy conversion.

2 Electrical Circuits & Simulation Laboratory

The objective of the Electrical Circuits lab is to expose the students to the electrical circuits and give them experimental skill and very basic skill set needed by all who want to do major in Electronics, instrumentation or electrical engineering. This Lab aims at equipping students with the analysis and techniques, which will be used throughout the engineering curriculum.

3 Control Systems & Simulation Laboratory

The Control Systems Lab in the Department of Engineering Technology contains a variety of laboratory equipment used in design and experimentation of digital and analog electromechanical feedback control systems.

4 Power Electronics & Simulation Laboratory

The power electronics lab enhances the EEE students by providing them the better understanding of the concepts and working of advanced power semiconductor devices and power electronics circuits.

5 Electrical Measurements Laboratory

Measurement of different electrical and electronic parameters such as voltage, current, power, energy, resistance, inductance, capacitance etc. are performed in Electrical and Electronic Measurement laboratory. Measurement of current and voltage using instrument transformer is an important feature of this laboratory.

6 Project Laboratory

Project lab is able to ensure the testing and verification of automation and relay protection algorithms, software and hardware, can serve as the basis to get for students practical skills which is necessary for the development and operation of power automation systems.
