Research & Development and Consultancy, IPR Cell
Objective
“Research and Development” generally refers to longer-term enterprises in Engineering and Technology, using techniques without proposed outcomes and with huge anticipations of commercial needs. History has shown that educational institutions across the globe have played an essential role in the substantial progress of humankind. To remain as a leader of discovery, one should investigate like a scientist and aggressive like an engineer. To attain satisfaction one needs results; publishable and applicative results. R&D flourishes only where students and experienced faculty works synthetically.
Research & Development (R&D) Cell is established in 2016 to promote research-based teaching-learning thereby preparing students for successful careers.
A functional Research and Development Center is established to promote the research activity and functions of teachers and students in the right direction. This center focuses to imbibe a research culture in the campus by encouraging teachers and students to develop basic innovative thinking, work on minor and major projects, work towards sponsored research funding, extension and developing consultancy activities by associating with the Industry. It also encourages faculty members to publish technical papers in refereed journals, national and international conferences and suitable financial assistance is being given to such faculty members from the management funds.
Dr.A.Shareef , Professor in H&S has taken charge as Head of the R&D Department.
Vision
- Research and Development Centre envisages providing an intellectual platform for the expression of the creative and critical instincts of the individuals while sharpening their faculties by exposing them to several current trends in the industries and academic institution.
Mission
- To motivate and train the students and faculty in progressive creative thinking leading to the preparation of papers of quality standard.
- To furnish information, training and support to the faculty and students to contribute to National, International Technical Symposiums and Research Journals.
- To identify and establish an Interactive Industry-Institute Initiative and to offer professional services and support to identified industries.
- To promote a general ambience of research and application in all core subjects and to encourage the faculty to pursue research.
Functions of R&D Cell
- To acquire new scientific knowledge among stake holders.
- To design novel methodologies in all the fields of Engineering and Technology.
- To develop new tools and techniques to expedite problem solving with special focus on rural and socially relevant issues.
- To encourage the faculty to attend for various conferences and workshops all over the country to improve skills.
- Ensure Incentives/ Awards are provided to the staff and students for their achievements
- Encouragement of Faculty- , industry Collaboration.
- To promote research and innovation culture among faculty and students and to drive them towards funding in research.
- To enhance quality of UG and PG projects and to publish the works in UGC approved journals and conferences.
- To encourage faculty members for submitting research findings and acquire patents under IPR.
Facilities of R&D
- One Lab with 30 laptops for the R&D to organize skill development programmes and discusses about activities.
- Notice boards is available for pasting / keeping circulars, updating the event photos, press clippings, Year Planners etc.,
- Posters of vision and mission on the wall of the room
- Having a good number of chairs and space to discuss / conduct the committee meetings.
Composition of Committee
- Coordinator: A senior faculty with good network.
- Faculty Member: one faculty from each department.
- Student Member: Two 3rd & two 4th year Students from each department and two 1st & 2nd year Students of MBA & MCA

Roles & Responsibilities of R&D Cell
Coordinator:
- The role of the Convener of the R&D is to interact with Heads of all the Departments in conducting Conferences, IPR workshops , Seminars and FDPs etc.,
- Convener of the R&D is to inform the faculty members about Conferences, submission of Funding proposals.
- Funding to faculty for attending conferences, Workshops has to be verified and forwarded to Principal for approval to be done by Convener, R&D.
- Anti-Plagiarism checks to be supervised by Convener, R&D.
- To bring In-House Journal (Bi-annual/ Annual) as per the requirements.
- To motivate the faculty and students to publish their project works as Journal/ Conference publications.
- To advice the faculty and students to take membership in Professional bodies
Faculty Members:
- They execute the yearly plan of activities at the department level as per the instructions of the convener.
- They motivate students to utilize Research and Development activities like participation in Seminars, Workshops.
- To motivate students to publish their project works as Journal/ Conference publications.
- To inform the faculty of their respective department faculty and students to take membership in Professional bodies.
Student Members:
- Motivate the co-students to participate in practical sessions like Seminars, Workshops and Conferences
- To inform about R&D activities among
- To incorporate their innovative ideas in brainstorming sessions of R&D.
- To publish their project works as Journal/ Conference publications.
